Celebration Moment - One Year of Progress

The first CII/CPAR Connect of 2024 kicked off with a look back at the progress made over the last year. Here are some highlights of the December 2023 stats compared to the project results from one year ago (December 2022 stats in parenthesis):

  • PCN Family Physicians Live or In-Progress: 64% (43%)
  • Eligible Non-Family Medicine Specialists Live or In-Progress: 26% (20%)
  • Clinics Live: 579 (397)
  • Encounters submitted to Netcare: 14.3M (6.7M)
  • Consult Reports submitted to Netcare: 905K (523K)
  • Patients paneled in CPAR: 1.6M (1.1M)
  • Acceleration Grant paid out so far: $5.3M

Congratulations and a sincere thank you to everyone who helped make CII/CPAR a success over the last year!

Here’s to another great year of progress, and to further improving continuity of care across the province.

Future State of CII/CPAR

CII/CPAR is an evolving technology. Significant work is being done to leverage CII’s ability to enable two-way communication between community-based EMRs and Netcare. The following are some enhancements currently in development, categorized by their estimated time to implementation:

Shorter term:

  • Allied health professionals able to be onboarded to CII
  • Pediatric panels no longer generating conflicts
  • CPAR provider will be visible in Connect Care

Intermediate term:

  • eNotification changes to reduce duplication with Connect Care summative notes
  • Sharing of operative reports on Netcare
  • Sharing of pulmonary function diagnostic (PFD) reports on Netcare

Longer term:

  • Patient summary in Netcare; in development with Infoway and Ontario
  • Electronic referral submissions from EMRs and Connect Care
  • Referral status notifications sent to MyHealth Records (MHR)

Q & A Highlights

  • An exact list of which Allied Health Professionals will be able to participate in CII is not yet available, but onboarding of these providers will likely start with Regulated Health Professionals with college license numbers. Reminder: onboarding of allied health professionals is currently paused until further notice
  • No updates on AVA and CHR; both are still in the final testing stages, with data only flowing to a test environment, not to the live Netcare environment
  • Acceleration grant payments cannot be issued until a provider is live and sending data to the live Netcare environment. This means that providers at AVA and CHR clinics will not receive grant payments until the final testing of these EMRs is complete and their clinic is live
