Support Program (PFSP)

The AMA's PFSP is looking for physicians who are interested in joining the team in a contract position.

There are two positions available:

  • Assessment Physician 
  • Case Coordinator

The PFSP provides confidential support and help with personal health issues and promotes health and well-being for the medical profession that cares for all Albertans. For more information visit the PFSP webpage.

Take the 2025 CMA National Physician Health survey

Physicians and medical learners continue to experience unprecedented pressure, impacting their mental health, job satisfaction and capacity to respond to the high demand for care. The National Physician Health survey, conducted every four years by the CMA, provides crucial data on burnout, anxiety, depression and other wellness indicators in medicine.
 
Please complete the survey by Tuesday, April 15 at 11:59 p.m. ET.

Interested in parliamentary law, rules of order and meeting management?

The AMA is inviting Expressions of Interest from members for the positions of Speaker and Deputy Speaker; elected officials responsible for overseeing the Representative Forum and the Annual General Meeting. Each role entails a three-year term commencing after the next AGM, from October 2025 to 2028. 

This invitation offers the AMA Nominating Committee an opportunity to evaluate interested members by their applications. 

  • Members should demonstrate their understanding of the governing documents of the AMA, including:
    • bylaws
    • parliamentary authority
    • policies 
    • codes of conduct
  • Members should highlight how their expertise aligns with the responsibilities of these positions. Relevant external experience will be duly considered.

Members not selected by the Nominating Committee as official nominees will have the opportunity to self-nominate when the call goes out to all membership on August 7, 2025.

AMA committee openings: Online applications are now being accepted

The AMA is currently recruiting to fill upcoming fall vacancies on various committees with terms from October 2025 to 2028.  The strength and effectiveness of the AMA depends on the depth of expertise and commitment from members like you! 

Apply to be a member on:

  • AMA Compensation Committee - two member positions 
  • Committee on Bylaws - one member position 
  • Committee on Financial Audit - one member position 
  • Fees Advisory Committee - one chair and three member positions 
  • Health Issues Council - one chair and four member positions

The AMA is committed to diversity and inclusion in its committee appointment process.

Deadline extended: Apply for the TD Insurance Moloche Monnex/AMA Scholarship

The TD Insurance Meloche Monnex/Alberta Medical Association Scholarship was established to help physicians meet Alberta's changing medical needs. 

Every May, the AMA and TD Meloche Monnex team up to award four physicians with a $7,500 scholarship. The deadline for applications has been extended to April 30, 2025.

Community Connections

Research project: Health care professionals' perspectives on perinatal-wildfire health knowledge and experiences.

Health care providers, are you 18 years and older and have worked or currently work in perinatal health in Canada? 

Health care providers are being recruited to participate in a 30-minute survey. The primary goal is to document health care professionals’ perspectives on perinatal-wildfire health knowledge and experiences and to assess their ability to provide guidance on wildfire-related perinatal health risks during consultations with perinatal patients.
