Lab bulletin: Ammonia testing update for Fort Vermillion, High Level and La Crete

Effective November 13, ammonia testing has been implemented on the Vitros XT3400 at Northwest Health Centre in High Level. Currently, this testing is referred to Edmonton Base Lab. This change will improve turn-around time and decrease the number of tests being cancelled due to extended transport times. There are no changes to ordering.

Lab bulletin: D-Dimer testing update for Fort Vermillion, High Level and La Crete

Effective November 13, D-dimer testing has transitioned from the ACL Elite Pro method to the Triage Meter method. This change affects the following three sites:

High Level – methodology change only
Fort Vermillion – D-Dimer testing is now offered on site
La Crete – testing is now performed in Fort Vermillion

In addition, the reference range is changing to <0.50 mg/L DDU from <0.23 mg/L DDU. Please note that all D-Dimer testing will now be collected in an EDTA tube. Epic specimen labels and the APL test directory page will be updated to reflect the type change at all three sites.
