Helping Albertans living with pain

The AMA Section of Chronic Pain has written a letter to Alberta’s physicians asking for help in establishing innovative and scalable actions to help Alberta’s chronic pain population.

One in five Canadians live in chronic pain, and for these eight million Canadians, their disease is largely invisible and often misunderstood and stigmatized. This year's annual Canadian Pain Task Force report shared staggering
numbers about Canadians and the impact of COVID-19 on the already existing disparity in chronic pain treatment
access across the country. The disruption to medical care by the pandemic has exhausted our health care system, worsening chronic pain patients' access to dignified care.

The AMA's Indigenous Health Committee wants you!

Have a community-based practice?

Here's why you should sign up for CII.

Dr. Christina Dolhaniuk is an obstetrician-gynecologist who works at both the Grey Nuns Hospital and a community-based practice in Edmonton. By signing up for Community Information Integration (CII), Christina can send consult letters directly from her community practice EMR to Netcare which is making a big difference to patients and other providers.

Listen to Christina encourage all physicians with a community practice to participate in CII. If you want more information on CII for your own practice contact us at cii-specialty@albertadoctors.org.
