MD/AMA Insurance webinar:
Mistakes, Misconceptions and Solutions

As physicians, you know that without your input, many patients might be missing proactive ways to improve their health outcomes. As financial planners, we know that many investors might be missing ways to optimize their financial plans, particularly with insurance.

Insurance provides a unique way to help you protect, grow and distribute your wealth. But the strategies to adopt aren’t always obvious. Common misconceptions can prevent physicians from taking advantage of everything that insurance can offer.

On April 20, 7 p.m. MDT, join us as MD Financial and the AMA highlight the key misconceptions physicians have about insurance, and how to avoid them. We will offer solutions and tactics to help you use insurance strategically and cost-effectively, to not only protect you and your family but also your wealth.

See your Name In Lights....

We mean, Alberta Netcare Portal!

Family physicians and pediatricians participating in the Central Patient Attachment Registry (CPAR) will notice something different in the Alberta Netcare Portal in April. Their name will appear prominently in the demographics area of their patient’s records in Netcare!

This enhancement to CII/CPAR will assist in connecting providers across the system to the patient’s primary provider – the provider with knowledge and a comprehensive record of the patient in their EMR.

Become a PaRx prescriber: Canada's National Nature Prescription Program

On March 28 PaRx officially launched in Alberta. Featuring practical resources like quick tips and patient handouts, its goal is to make prescribing time in nature simple, fun and effective. And thanks to the program’s collaboration with Parks Canada, registered prescribers can prescribe one free Parks Canada Discovery Pass per month to patients, prioritizing those who live close to Parks Canada administered sites, and for whom the cost of a pass would be a barrier to access.

As part of the Alberta launch, and out of gratitude to health-care workers, the BC Parks Foundation is offering free remote nature therapy sessions led by certified nature therapy guides to all prescribers so they can experience the stress-relieving benefits of nature themselves.

Check out www.parkprescriptions.ca for more information on nature prescriptions and to register to become a prescriber.

Survey Corner

Health care partners and other organizations often seek physician feedback through surveys. This month, the following is available for your consideration:

Double-Duty Canadian Caregivers: Impacts of COVID-19
Dr. Jasneet Parmar and her research team from the University of Alberta invite you to participate in a study
on how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected Canadian double-duty caregivers (health care providers who are
also family caregivers). The survey, delivered on the secure REDCap platform, will take 20 minutes to complete. The study has been approved by the U of A Health Research Ethics Board: Pro00117700. For more information, or if
you have questions, please contact Dr. Sharon Anderson via email sdanders@ualberta.ca or text message 780-953-5541.
