We've moved:

AMA's Edmonton office has a new home!

As of May 4, 2026, the Alberta Medical Association’s Edmonton office is operating from a new location in southwest Edmonton.

AMA – Edmonton Office
#200, 5083 Windermere Blvd SW
Edmonton, AB T6W 0J5

AMA’s main phone and fax numbers remain unchanged, and mail sent to the former Edmonton office location will continue to be forwarded for a period of time. AMA’s Calgary office location has not changed.

While many AMA staff work in a hybrid environment, Edmonton-based teams use the office for in-person work, meetings, mail and visitors. The move brings Edmonton based teams together in a modern, functional space that supports in person work, meetings and collaboration — while ensuring members across Alberta continue to access AMA support and services as they always have.

What were your patients' experiences with the health care system in 2025?

The Alberta Medical Association (AMA) is asking Albertans to share their 2025 experiences with the health care system through its ongoing State of Health Care (SOHC) initiative, which uses public feedback to understand how patients accessed and navigated care across the province.

The 2025 survey — now open and closing May 8, 2026 — will help inform the AMA’s second Report Card on the State of Health Care, scheduled for release in June 2026, building on the inaugural report that combined public survey results with insights from the AMA’s Patients First community to reflect patient perspectives on system performance. Albertans can complete the survey in just a few minutes, reporting either their own experience or that of a family member or friend they supported, with one survey per incident.

Physicians are encouraged to print and display the official survey poster (which includes a QR code) in clinics and offices to raise awareness and support participation.

Peer Review Billing Committee

launching in May

The AMA has selected members for the new Peer Review Billing Committee, a physician‑led body dedicated to promoting billing best practices through expert interpretation of the Schedule of Medical Benefits (SOMB), billing education and practical recommendations to strengthen policy and the SOMB.

Comprised of physician leaders with diverse expertise, the committee will also conduct balanced, comprehensive reviews of anonymized data to support continuous improvement and greater billing consistency across the profession. At this time, committee member names will remain confidential.

Thank you to all members who expressed interest and stepped forward to contribute their time and expertise. We look forward to sharing updates with AMA membership as the committee’s work gets underway.

Attend the Care-First

health care provider webinar

In January 2027 Alberta will introduce Care-First, a new auto insurance system designed to improve health outcomes while supporting long term affordability and system stability. Care-First will provide enhanced medical, rehabilitation and income replacement benefits to all Albertans injured in an auto accident—regardless of fault.

As part of preparing for the launch of Care-First, clinicians and other care providers can attend an upcoming webinar that will provide them with an overview of the Program of Care (POC): a structured, evidence based approach for early treatment of common motor vehicle injuries. It standardizes care delivery, reporting and funding to improve outcomes and reduce administrative burden for healthcare providers, insurers and injured Albertans.

The webinar will also highlight the concept and application of developed Care Pathways which define evidence-based care for the same injuries for up to six months, supporting safe, timely and effective recovery following a motor vehicle accident.

The health care provider webinar will be offered May 28 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and will be the first in a series of webinars discussing the delivery of care and treatment in Care-First.

Members interested in attending can use this link to join on May 28.

Meetings are held every six weeks, primarily virtually (with occasional in-person meetings in Edmonton). The time commitment is approximately eight hours every six weeks, and members receive an honorarium for their time.
