AMA reps needed for Alberta Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Programs' Advisory Committee

The Alberta Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening Programs’ Advisory Committee (ABCCSP AC) provides oversight and advice to support effective, population-based breast and cervical cancer screening programs in Alberta. The AMA has a vital role in population-based cancer screening programs, and we would like to have a representative on this provincial committee.

The ABCCSP AC meets twice a year (June and December) for full-day meetings virtually (may resume in-person meetings if needed), and two one-hour as needed meetings (March and September). The next meeting is in December 2023.

Interested? Send your expression of interest (a maximum of one page) and your CV by September 30 to Sarah.Zieminek@albertadoctors.org.

CMA Awards: Nominate in one-step

This is the perfect opportunity for you to recognize the dedication, accomplishments and talents of your peers and colleagues who are making significant contributions to health care and the medical profession.

The CMA Awards span across 10 categories whose recipients include changemakers from different career stages, backgrounds and geographic regions. One non-physician is also recognized every year.

Community Connections

This month, the following is available for your consideration:

COVID-19 related Moral Injury in Health Care Workers
This research study explores how a trauma-informed policy for staff can better support the mental health of health care providers and improve organizational culture and the workplace environment. Interested health care providers may choose to participate in both an interview and a survey or a survey alone. This study is being run by the Trauma and Recovery Research Unit at McMaster University, led by Dr. Margaret McKinnon, and is funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada and the Canadian Institutes for Health Research. It has been approved by the Hamilton Research Ethics Board (#12667) and will provide an essential step towards the development of trauma-informed policies, resources and tools for health care leaders that can be used to prevent and/or mitigate the mental health impacts among Canadian HCPs who are suffering as a result of their service during COVID-19.
