Measles hotline now available
On May 5, HealthLink introduced a dedicated measles hotline. Albertans seeking information about measles can fast track their call through HealthLink by calling 1-844-944-3434. The measles hotline will speed up access to a professional who will:
  • Assist with accessing your immunization records or general information.
  • Provide advice for those experiencing measles symptoms and feeling unwell.
  • Assist with booking measles immunization appointments or locating a public health clinic offering immunization in your area.

Lab bulletin: Serology ordering for Schistosoma spp and Strongyloides stercoralis
Effective May 19, 2025, all Schistosoma or Strongyloides serology must be ordered through Connect Care or by using the APL Serology and Molecular Testing Requisition (for sites/offices that do not use Connect Care). Providers are asked to include relevant travel history and rationale.

Lab bulletin reminder: Changes to urine cytology ordering
Starting May 12, community urine cytology requests will be cancelled unless ordered or clearly recommended by a urologist. If a urologist recommends the test, include the phrase “urine cytology recommended by urologist” in the Clinical History section of the lab requisition.
APL encourages physicians to follow the Provincial Hematuria Evaluation and Adult Urology Referral Pathways.
