AHS and APL

Two important updates have been shared by AHS and Alberta Precision Labs regarding measles prevention and testing.

WCB fee increase update

In keeping with the 2020-2024 Memorandum of Agreement, WCB specific fees (defined as: reporting fees, expedited surgery) increased by 1% effective April 1, 2024.

Once Alberta Health updates the Schedule of Medical Benefits (SOMB), WCB will make any necessary adjustments (including OP codes).

The new fee schedule can also be found on the WCB website.

AMA committee openings: Online applications are now being accepted

The AMA is currently recruiting to fill upcoming fall vacancies on the committees listed below. The terms will be October 2024 to September 2027.

The AMA’s Nominating Committee will consider all applications at its May meeting. Its recommendations will be submitted to the Board of Directors for approval in July and you will be contacted shortly thereafter. The AMA is committed to diversity and inclusion in its committee appointment process.

  • Committee on Bylaws

Are you eligible for Canada Student Loan forgiveness?

The Government of Canada offers Canada Student Loan forgiveness to eligible family doctors, residents in family medicine, nurse practitioners and nurses who work in under-served rural or remote communities that lack the primary health care they need. This change will help more Canadians get the health care they deserve.

Interested in a +1 program? Attend the Enhanced Skills information evening

The Enhanced Skills Program is hosting an information night on Thursday, May 16 from 4:30 - 6:15 p.m. This virtual event is for applicants interested in Enhanced Skills residency for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Enhanced Skills Program directors, the chief resident and current R3s will be present to answer your questions.
