A boost to offset escalating tuition fees:
testimonies from four grateful students

The TD Insurance Meloche Monnex/AMA Medical Student Bursary helps to reduce financial pressure from escalating medical school tuition fees. The boost this bursary provides helps qualified students afford to attend medical school. Since 2001, the program has awarded $2,061,000.

This year we were fortunate to administer bursaries to 70 well-deserving medical students. Four of this year's recipients, University of Calgary medical students Bree Kullman and Tina Nash as well as University of Alberta medical students Marc Beaudin and Aaron Chung, want to express their gratitude.

Read their testimonies

The TD Insurance Meloche Monnex/AMA Medical Student Bursary Program is made possible through a significant contribution by TD Insurance Meloche Monnex as well as donations from generous physician members. Bursaries are $1,500 each and in March 2022, $105,000 was awarded to medical students who qualified.

TPP Alberta has a new website:

Share your feedback

Since 1986, Alberta’s Tracked Prescription Program (TPP Alberta) has monitored the use of prescription drugs prone to misuse, using the data collected to develop resources that support physicians and other health care professionals in safe, informed prescribing.

Administered by the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta, TPP Alberta is a partnership of member organizations and launched a new stand-alone website last year, to make information about medication lists, TPP pads, forgeries and more accessible and easy to find. Please take a moment to visit tppalberta.ca and let them know what you think by completing a feedback survey.

Survey Corner

Health care partners and other organizations often seek physician feedback through surveys. This month, the following is available for your consideration:

Developing Education for Family Physicians on Supporting Family Caregivers

Family physicians are well positioned to support family caregivers of their patients. Family caregivers are in critical need of support. The survey will ask about your needs for education and preferences on delivery of educational sessions, in supporting family caregivers of your patients. The results of this study will be used to inform the development and delivery of educational sessions for family physicians in supporting family caregivers. Study ID: Pro00117265

Identifying concussion assessment measures typically used in clinic setting

Shawn Marshall (MD, FRCPC) and the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute are seeking clinicians to participate in a voluntary survey-based research study with the aim of developing a standardized virtual physical assessment for concussion patients. The study involves completion of two rounds of surveys. The aim of round one of the survey is to identify what concussion assessment measures are typically used by clinicians in the clinic setting.

  • Access the consent form and Survey.
  • Provide your email address for the second survey

Editor's note: "Survey Corner" presents survey requests received and reviewed by the AMA, that may be of interest to our members. We will publish new opportunities as we receive them.
