Did you know that most physicians will earn enough continuing professional development (CPD) credits throughout a year to claim the full continuing medical education benefit amount ($2,200)? Most physicians can claim the full CME allotment by submitting a claim for "overhead allowance."

If you haven’t claimed for your 2022/23 CME yet (for expenses incurred between April 1, 2022, and March 31, 2023), be sure to do so before the July 31, 2023 deadline. After this date allotments will be forfeited.

Physicians can claim $50 per MAINPRO+ or MOC CPD credit earned during the eligible time frame – in this case, April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023. This is based on the current credit requirements for MAINPRO+ (a minimum 25 CPD credits each year and 250 over five years) and MOC (a minimum of 40 credits each year and 400 over five years). 

Simply log into the College of Family Physicians of Canada website or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada website to get a report on the CPD credits earned during the eligible period.
