2026 AMA Annual General Meeting:

Notice of election and changes to bylaws

The 121st AMA Annual General Meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 6 at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom.
 

As required under the AMA Bylaws, members received 60 days’ notice of:

  • Proposed bylaw changes to be considered.
  • Elections to take place at the AGM (Nominating Committee).

Lifetime Achievement in Health Award

Primary and Preventative Health Services is accepting nominations for the Dr. Peter B. R. Allen Lifetime Achievement in Health Award, recognizing an Albertan whose career has made a lasting impact on health and well-being in the province.
 

Nominations close September 30.
 

Nominees should demonstrate:

  • significant contributions to the health of Albertans
  • lasting impact throughout their career
  • leadership that empowers and supports others
  • mentorship of emerging health or life sciences professionals

The University of Alberta's Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry invites physicians to participate in a strategic planning survey.

Alberta Netcare’s eReferral eConsult service gives health care providers access to specialist advice in 27 specialties, with responses delivered within five calendar days.
 

Providers can ask non-urgent patient care questions, helping inform treatment decisions, determine referral needs and support patients while they wait for care. eConsult can reduce unnecessary referrals and improve patient readiness for specialist appointments.

Join CPSA's Continuing Competence Committee

The College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) is currently seeking one new physician member for a three-year term beginning in January 2027.
 

Committee members must be in good standing with CPSA and hold an active practice permit with at least five years of practice experience. The time commitment is approximately 30 hours annually (including meeting and preparation time) and an honorarium is provided.
 

Application deadline is September 15.

Help strengthen cancer screening in Alberta
 

Health care professionals’ perspectives are essential to strengthening and improving existing cancer screening programs in Alberta. Insights gathered through this project will help inform strategies to enhance screening processes, improve participation rates and reinforce the importance of early detection and positive screening outcomes for Albertans. 
 

Share your perspectives on the barriers and facilitators 
of cancer screening and help identify potential  
strategies to enhance screening uptake for Albertans.

Support a province-wide effort to optimize HPV screening
 

The OPTIMIZE-HPV quality improvement project is seeking Alberta health care providers involved in cervical cancer screening, including family physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and midwives. 
 

Conducted by the Alberta Cervical Cancer Screening Program and Cancer Screening and Prevention Innovation, the project aims to understand provider communication needs as Alberta transitions from Pap testing to HPV primary screening. 
 

Participants will take part in a 60-minute virtual discussion.
