Connect meeting follow up

August milestones

  • Over 2.3M patients are now on a CPAR panel!
  • 591 non-family medicine specialists are now live!
  • 757 clinics are now live!
  • Over 21M Encounters and 1.5M Consults have been submitted to Netcare via CII!

CPAR provider will be listed in Connect Care soon!

A go-live is scheduled for October 1st for the CPAR primary provider to be displayed in Connect Care, in addition to Netcare. This should help Connect Care providers route information to the correct primary care provider more often. Note that the CPAR provider will not be automatically copied on anything as a result of this change. This simply displays the CPAR provider in Connect Care, which may help Connect Care users and patients identify the correct primary care provider.

Panel size webinar series for physicians

Physicians are invited to join Dr. Ernst Greyvenstein and AMA-ACTT for this webinar series and learn what practical steps can be taken to improve the accuracy of their AH panel size estimates.

Many physicians reported that the estimated panel size used to determine funding for the Panel Management Support Program (PMSP) was unexpectedly low. Improving panel size accuracy may increase physicians’ future PMSP payments, which are recalculated and paid out quarterly until April 2026. Ensuring panel size accuracy may also help physicians prepare for the new funding model (Physician Comprehensive Care Model, or PCCM), which may involve a similar panel size estimate.

This will be a 3-part webinar series for family physicians and rural generalists:

  • Part 1. How panel sizes are calculated for PMSP (and potentially for PCCM), what CII/CPAR is and how it can improve your panel size estimate, assigning CII/CPAR roles & responsibilities and how to get started today.
  • Part 2. How to compare your EMR panel vs CPAR panel, and how to find and fix any discrepancies. Includes helpful tips and resources for each EMR.
  • Part 3. Understand what CPAR Conflicts and Demographic Mismatches are, how they impact panel size estimates and how your team can address them.

Part 1 of this webinar series will be offered twice, once in the morning and once in the evening. Physicians should register for their preferred date below:

  •  September 3rd @ 7:30 a.m.
    or
  • September 4th @ 5:30 p.m.

Watch for announcements coming soon with dates for parts 2 and 3.

Note: this content may be made available via other channels to other healthcare team members in the future.

New AMA ACTT website

The new combined AMA-ACTT website is now live. CII/CPAR content can be accessed from the AMA home page by selecting CII/CPAR from the “Practice” drop-down menu. You can find all the same great information from our old site including the CII/CPAR Resource Centre.

Electronic Confirmation of Participation (eCOP) expanded pilot

The CII/CPAR team is proceeding with a soft launch of an electronic (web-based) CoP form. The link to the electronic form will be published to our website once the pilot testing is complete. Select users that were provided with the link during this pilot phase should email ciicpar@albertadoctors.org to inform us each time they submit a new form using this eCOP.

Q&A recap

  1. Are there any changes or impacts for providers live on CII/CPAR now that their name will soon be displayed in Connect Care?
    • There are no changes to practice or process required for providers live on CII/CPAR. The hope is that this change will reduce some admin burden for primary care providers by reducing the amount of information they receive from Connect Care facilities about patients that are no longer on their panel.
  2. What is the process for adding a provider to a clinic that is already live using the new eCoP?
    • While it is still being tested, the intended process is for users to be able to open the original eCOP for that clinic using the unique link that was emailed to them when they first started the form. Once opened, they can add the new provider to that existing eCOP and click the Submit button to resubmit it for the new provider.
  3. How long will it take to have a provider’s name displayed in the CPAR Primary Care Provider field in Connect Care?
    • It is unclear at this time how often Connect Care will refresh the CPAR Provider field in Connect Care itself. It is important to note that Connect Care will be pulling this information from CII/CPAR, and EMRs only upload CPAR panel changes once per month, so we can expect at least a 1-month delay between paneling or un-paneling a patient in an EMR and that change being visible in Netcare and Connect Care.

What is CII/CPAR Connect?

CII/CPAR Connect is a regular meeting for anyone needing support with CII/CPAR and aims to support those implementing CII/CPAR by creating a forum to connect and ask questions.

Meetings run monthly, typically on the third Tuesday of the month at 1 p.m. You can choose to attend any one meeting or all of them.

See the dates and register below. You can also view slides from previous meetings.
