Resumption of mail service
With the end of the Canada Post labour disruption, some changes made to ensure delivery of patient results/reports, summative documents and letters (“clinical information”) are being reverted. Results will no longer be duplicated to Connect Care In Baskets, and ECG tracings/waveforms are being mailed. Providers are encouraged to continue receiving clinical information by fax or eDelivery where feasible. Clinical information remains accessible electronically via Alberta Netcare.

Reminder: Measles case confirmed in Calgary Zone
In December 2024, AHS confirmed a travel-related measles case involving an infectious individual in public settings in Calgary. Details on exposure dates and locations are available in this health advisory.

What members of the public should do:
Any individuals who attended the identified locations during these times should:
  • Check immunization records: Ensure vaccination against measles.
  • Monitor for measles symptoms: Watch for fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes and rash.
  • Call Health Link at 811 before visiting any health care facility, including their family physician or health care provider if symptoms or concerns arise.

High-risk individuals:
Those born in or after 1970 who are unvaccinated, immunocompromised, pregnant, or have children under one year old should call Health Link at 811 immediately, even without symptoms. These individuals may be eligible for post-exposure treatment to prevent measles.

Enhancing care for Albertans living with diabetes
Alberta's government is expanding access to continuous glucose monitors making it easier for Albertans to monitor and manage their diabetes. This means that all Albertans living with diabetes requiring certain insulin therapies, and enrolled in an Alberta government-sponsored health benefit plan, can access this vital technology.
