Future eNotification Changes – Key Messages

Developed by the three partners: Alberta Health, Alberta Health Services & the Alberta Medical Association
We recognize that physicians are frustrated with the administrative burdens they are currently facing and we want to take steps to address this
The eNotifications from CII/CPAR and the Summative Notes received through Connect Care contain valuable information and contribute to continuity of care but there is some duplication of information
CII/CPAR and Connect Care are part of an evolving technological environment, as Connect Care continues to be implemented across the province and CII/CPAR enrollment increases
Any changes to eNotifications needs to be carefully considered and given appropriate communication and change management support
As we undertake a risk assessment as part of our due diligence and explore technical solutions, we will consider global solutions and the distinctive needs of unique clinic practices, such as indigenous communities and pediatricians
We are committed to reducing administrative burden and will follow up in early 2024 with more information about upcoming eNotification changes

Q&A Highlights

Some PS Suite clinics have patients on CPAR panels that have not been seen in many years
- Clinics can contact Telus to request a pre-built Custom Query be installed in the clinic’s PS Suite instance
  - This will allow them to quickly pull a list of paneled patients for comparison to CPAR panels
  - Bulk actions can facilitate panel clean-up (e.g., bulk deactivation of patients that have not been seen or validated in many years)
- Clinics could also accomplish this with a custom-built search
- This discussion highlighted the importance of good panel maintenance
  - E.g., physicians receiving eNotifications for patients they don’t consider attached, and ASaP screening searches that include patients that are no longer attached
  - Good panel maintenance saves physicians and teams time even though it requires some effort
AVA Acceleration Grant payments will begin after final testing is complete and clinics formally go live on CII/CPAR

What is CII/CPAR Connect?

CII/CPAR Connect is a regular meeting for anyone needing support with CII/CPAR and aims to support those implementing CII/CPAR by creating a forum to connect and ask questions.

Meetings run monthly, typically on the third Tuesday of the month at 1 p.m. You can choose to attend any one meeting or all of them.
