CII-CPAR: Improving patient care with virtually no changes to daily workforce

To participate in the Community Information Integration-Central Patient Attachment Registry (CII-CPAR), a clinic must have an up-to-date privacy impact assessment (PIA) that reflects the clinic’s current electronic medical record and privacy policies. For a limited time only, community-based clinics that need their PIA updated to participate in CII-CPAR will be offered reduced rates to hire select PIA consultants for clinics that have submitted a CII-CPAR Confirmation of Participation. Hear from your peers about the benefits of CII-CPAR to the greater health care system and how it seamlessly integrates with your EMR with virtually no changes to your daily workflow.

Canada's national nature prescription program, PaRX, celebrates one year in Alberta

Research shows how important nature contact is for health, including reduced rates of anxiety, depression, respiratory and cardiovascular disease. To help connect Canadians to the health benefits of nature, the BC Parks Foundation launched PaRx in 2020, starting in British Columbia, then expanding to every province across the country including Alberta in March 2022.

WCB updates

Electronic reporting weekend interruption

MyWCB, WCB’s electronic medical reporting system, is scheduled for upcoming enhancement and routine maintenance and will be unavailable:

Friday, April 14 at 8 p.m. MST
to
Monday, April 17 at 6 a.m. MST

Reporting due date extended by one business day.

Where applicable, any reporting that would typically be due Monday, April 17 will be considered timely if submitted by Tuesday, April 18 at 10 a.m.

Coming soon to myWCB: two-step verification

To improve the security of myWCB, WCB-Alberta is introducing two-step verification to all myWCB accounts. Two-step verification helps add an extra layer of protection to your myWCB account to ensure your clients’ confidential information remains secure and only you have access to your account.

Coming in April, when you log on to your myWCB account you will be prompted to turn on and set up two-step verification using one of the following authentication methods:

  • email (using the email attached to the myWCB account)
  • text message
  • authenticator mobile app (both Google Authenticator and Microsoft Authenticator are supported)

If you access myWCB through an electronic medical records platform, please reach out to your vendor if you have any questions or need support with this change. WCB notified medical software vendors of the change to myWCB earlier this year to help them prepare for the two-step verification on their end.
