Connect meeting follow up

Milestones

  • Nearly 2.5M patients are now on a CPAR panel!
  • 601 non-family medicine specialists are now live on CII!
  • 792 clinics are now live!
  • Over 23M Encounters and 1.6M Consults have been submitted to Netcare via CII!

eHealth process changes

eHealth is adjusting their process for onboarding. Clinics can soon expect that the onboarding process will continue at the same time as the privacy check (or “risk assessment”) phase is being completed. Clinics are still required to submit their updated PIA prior to go live, however the privacy check will no longer hold up the onboarding process. Once a Confirmation of Participation is submitted clinics may require support soon after with next steps (CPAR forms, EMR configuration, etc.). An exact timeline for when this process change will take effect is not known.

PCCM Panel Prep: Take control of your panel size

Physicians and teams are invited to join Dr. Heidi Fell and AMA-ACTT for Part 2 of this webinar series and learn what practical steps can be taken to improve the accuracy of their AH panel size estimates.

Improving panel size accuracy may increase physicians’ future PMSP payments, which are recalculated and paid out quarterly until April 2026. Ensuring panel sizes are accurate may also improve payments under future compensation models or funding initiatives.

This will be a 3-part webinar series for family physicians and rural generalists and their teams:

  • Part 1. How panel sizes are calculated for PMSP (and potentially other compensation), what CII/CPAR is and how it can improve your panel size estimate, assigning CII/CPAR roles & responsibilities and how to get started today. Watch the video here!
  • Part 2. How to compare your EMR panel vs CPAR panel, and how to find and fix any discrepancies. Includes helpful tips and resources for each EMR. Physicians and teams should register for their preferred date below

    • October 15 @ 12:00 pm

    • October 16 @ 5:30 pm

  • Part 3. Understand what CPAR Conflicts and Demographic Mismatches are, how they impact panel size estimates and how your team can address them. Dates still to be determined.

Panel prep is coming to Practice Facilitation (PF) Network!

Join us for the PF webinar on Oct 7 @ 2:00 pm, where guest presenters Robert Smith (Consultant, AMA ACTT) and Christine Do (Consultant, AMA-ACTT) provide an overview of how the Panel Management Support Program (PMSP) panel size is calculated, and what steps you can take to help your paneling providers get more accurate panel size estimates. This will be a summary of the content covered in all three parts of the physician-focused “PCCM Panel Prep” webinar series but tailored to Practice Facilitation roles.

Electronic Confirmation of Participation (eCOP)

Please use this link to access the eCoP:  https://ciicpar.albertadoctors.org/cii-cop/ . ACTT would like to encourage those submitting CoPs to give this electronic version a try.

During this early launch phase, once a form is submitted, please email the CII/CPAR team at ciicpar@albertadoctors.org to notify us that you have submitted a form. This will ensure we have received the eCoP and that our system is functioning properly.

Reminder: The form is saved with each “Next” click and you can use the emailed link to resume editing in the future. You can even forward the link to other colleagues or physicians that may need to provide input on the form.

Join our EMR Networks

The Electronic Medical Records (EMR) Network is a virtual hub of collaboration between the Accelerating Change Transformation Team (ACTT), Primary Care Networks and clinic EMR experts, offering regular interactive webinars and a collaborative site.

Q&A recap

  1. Whose email should be entered into the contact information of the eCoP?
    • The person that will be filling out the form should enter their email address in the initial contact information page. Once the contact information page is completed and you click “Next” the email link that is provided to revisit the form can be shared with anyone by email who is required to assist with completing the eCoP form.
  2. How should conflicts be managed for primary care providers and primary care providers who provide specialty care?
    • Conflicts can arise from situations where a patient is paneled to family physicians or GPs, with one of them providing specialty care (e.g. low risk maternity care). In most cases, patients should be paneled to a single provider who is providing comprehensive family care, and not paneled to the GP that is providing specialty care.  However, some GPs practicing as a specialist follow their patients very closely, and may choose to panel those patients in CPAR so that they are copied on relevant information while they are involved in the care.  This is an example of an appropriate dual-attachment, and not a Conflict that needs to be resolved. Once the temporary attachment to a physician providing specialty care is complete, the patient should be removed from the temporary physician’s panel. Staff are encouraged to review and discuss paneling processes when these situations arise, as there is not a one size fits all approach in a physician’s individual practice.

What is CII/CPAR Connect?

CII/CPAR Connect is a regular meeting for anyone needing support with CII/CPAR and aims to support those implementing CII/CPAR by creating a forum to connect and ask questions.

Meetings run monthly, typically on the third Tuesday of the month at 1 p.m. You can choose to attend any one meeting or all of them.

See the dates and register below. You can also view slides from previous meetings.
