Important notice: Canada Post Disruption
Due to the Canada Post disruption, documents and reports cannot be delivered by mail. Alberta Health Services and Alberta Precision Laboratories are working to identify alternate delivery methods. For the duration of the disruption, results may be duplicated to Connect Care In-Baskets. Clinical information remains accessible electronically via Alberta Netcare.

Change to distribution of reports for second trimester prenatal risk assessment
Paper copies of reports for Second Trimester Prenatal Risk Assessment (LAB560) will no longer be mailed to health care providers. This change will eliminate duplicate reporting as results are also delivered in the same manner as all other laboratory test findings.

Note: the item below is only for North, Edmonton and Central Zones
Change to distribution of reports for first trimester prenatal risk assessment performed in Edmonton
Paper copies of reports for First trimester Prenatal Risk Assessment (LAB701) for testing performed in Edmonton will no longer be mailed to health care providers. This change will eliminate duplicate reporting as results are also delivered in the same manner as all other laboratory test findings.

Free rapid antigen COVID-19 tests no longer available
Please be advised that the Government of Canada has ended the free-of-charge COVID-19 rapid antigen test distribution program to provinces and territories. Alberta Health Services Contracting, Procurement and Supply Management (CPSM) will no longer be distributing test kits. COVID-19 rapid antigen tests for personal use may be purchased through some pharmacies or online retailers.
Alberta continues to provide provincially funded laboratory-based COVID-19 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing for people at risk of severe outcomes if required to support their clinical care and for the purpose of outbreak management in high-risk facilities. A COVID-19 PCR test must be ordered by a physician or nurse practitioner.
