New Tracked Prescription Program (TPP Alberta) pad prescribing exemptions

Effective September 2, TPP Alberta prescription pad exemptions will now apply in some specific scenarios in acute care facilities using Connect Care and to certain prescription types in Recovery Alberta Overdose Prevention Program (ODP) clinics. 
 

The changes come following the work of the TPP Alberta Steering Committee, of which the AMA is a member. 
 

Prescribers are still required to register with TPP Alberta to prescribe TPP-monitored Type 1 medications, even if they have received exemptions from using physical TPP pads.

Help shape the future of the Health and Benefits Trust Fund Board of Trustees

The HBTF Board of Trustees is recruiting for two open positions, each with three-year terms beginning October 1.
 

The HBTF Board of Trustees provides strategic oversight and governance of the Health and Benefits Trust Fund, ensuring decisions are made in the best interests of participating physicians and their families. Trustees safeguard the Trust's long-term sustainability and guide its direction through prudent stewardship and fiduciary oversight.
 

Applications close September 14.

Join the Self-Referral Preventative Health

Testing Task Force

The Alberta Medical Association is currently seeking three physicians to serve on this task force from September 2026 to March 2027 or until completion of its mandate.
 

Applicants must be AMA members and be able to attend virtual meetings bi-weekly. The three selected committee members will receive honoraria and reimbursement for expenses in accordance with the AMA Honoraria and Expense Guidelines.

Apply for the Government of Alberta Compassionate Intervention Commission

The Government of Alberta is recruiting physicians to serve on panels of the Compassionate Intervention Commission, an independent tribunal established under the Compassionate Intervention Act. The government is seeking physicians with qualifications in addiction medicine, addiction psychiatry, psychiatry or another approved specialty.
 

Members interested in learning more about the opportunity, eligibility requirements and application process can learn more and apply through the Government of Alberta's Current Board Opportunities. 
 

Applications close September 25.

Wanted: Members both experienced and new to curling, are invited to join this longstanding league for some competition, but mostly for fun and camaraderie. 
 

Members in the health field, family and friends are welcome. Coaching is provided. 
 

Season runs early October 2026 to March 2027.

When: Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m.

Where: Granite Curling Club, 8620-107 St. Edmonton.
