Seeking committee members to lead health system stewardship

The AMA is launching two committees to help shape a more sustainable health system grounded in high-value care.

Bringing together physicians to examine anonymized practice patterns, these committees will identify opportunities to optimize clinical choices and elevate care, ensuring clinical expertise remains at the centre of health system resource use. They will foster a positive, collegial space for professional growth, where peers help peers strengthen practice and drive meaningful health system improvements.

  • Quality Stewardship Committee: Provide evidence-informed recommendations that advance clinical best practices, shape policy and enhance patient care. This committee reports to the AMA Physician Workforce & Stewardship branch. Learn more and apply.
  • Peer Review Billing Committee: Support resource stewardship by identifying and promoting billing best practices. Collaborate with colleagues and sections to share knowledge, support billing consistency and provide recommendations to improve the SOMB. This committee reports to the AMA Board. Learn more and apply.

Join the Physician and Family Support Program (PFSP) as a Case Coordinator

The AMA's PFSP provides confidential support with personal health issues and promotes health and well-being for the medical profession that cares for all Albertans.

The Case Coordinator is a contract role and will be part of the PFSP Case Coordination Team (CCT) that provides services for physicians, residents and medical students in need of ongoing assistance with complex health, personal and/or occupational concerns.

The Case Coordinator must have a good understanding of physician health issues and the challenges physicians face, and will liaise with multidisciplinary clinicians, participant family members, medical school or residency administrators, professional regulatory bodies and hospital or medical staff administrators.

Applicants must be licensed in Alberta, have a minimum of five years clinical experience and have a flexible schedule with the ability to adjust on short notice, including evenings and weekends, when required.

For more information and to submit CV, please email hr@albertadoctors.org by Monday, February 23, 2026.

Alberta Find a Doctor transitioning to

Alberta Find a Provider

By the end of February, Primary Care Alberta (PCA) will transition Alberta Find a Doctor to Alberta Find a Provider, reflecting an expanded focus on connecting Albertans with a broader range of primary care providers.

The updated website will be available at albertafindaprovider.ca, with the current URL redirecting there automatically.

As part of Alberta’s health system refocus, PCA assumed ownership of the site in December 2025 and continues to work with Primary Care Networks and system partners. The Alberta Medical Association has been a key partner in this work since the site’s launch in 2019. Over that time, the public‑facing directory has helped Albertans connect with primary care providers and has received more than 1.2 million visits annually.

Additional updates include a refreshed design, improved search functionality and a link to the Alberta Association of Midwives directory.

Physicians and clinics that maintain a profile on this site should expect minimal changes to their user experience and can continue to update their profiles as usual.

Questions about this transition can be directed to afapinfo@primarycarealberta.ca.
